Teaching

2021     “Moving, Playing, Seeing,” all-ages class, Pine Lake Park, Cortlandt, NY

One-hour movement-centered creative exploration class developed for adults who do not identify as dancers.

This class is designed to ignite sensation, curiosity, and a sense of play through movement-based tasks. We will improvise both on our own and in small and large groups to open ourselves to new ways of being in space, observing our surroundings, and working with others.

2019    “Collaborative Play” Master Class, Keshet Center for Dance and the Arts, Albuquerque, NM

90-minute class for adults, all levels and abilities welcome.

In this workshop, Brooklyn-based choreographers and performers Molly Ross & Nola Sporn Smith will guide participants through a series of compositional and improvisational structures. Illuminating how the two build their collaborative performances as MOLLY&NOLA, we will play with leading/following (using specific strategies developed in our research), storytelling, use of voice, character development, and partnering exercises to create set movement material.
